Vehicles Affected: Approximately 730 model-year 2019 Volkswagen Arteon sedans
The Problem: The electronic brake booster pressure input rod may be installed incorrectly, possibly causing an increased actuating force or a disconnected input rod that affects braking, increasing the risk of a crash.
The Fix: Depending on the results of the inspection, dealers will inspect and correct the mounting of the pressure rod, or replace the electronic brake booster and mounting of the pressure rod for free.
What Owners Should Do: VW will begin notifying owners May 5. Owners can call the automaker at 800-893-5298, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
